The celebration of Umuganura brought together members of the Rwandan community and friends of Rwanda for a day of cultural reflection, learning, and celebration. H.E. Ambassador Igor Cesar reflected on the deeper meaning of Umuganura, emphasizing that it is not only about celebrating the harvest, but also about celebrating the values, achievements, and collective efforts that make progress possible.

Throughout the celebration, participants explored the meaning of Umuganura through traditional games and questions on Rwanda’s history and culture. Children were also offered milk while seated on umusambi, a cherished tradition symbolizing care, love, and hope for the next generation. The event also recognized individuals whose achievements continue to inspire and contribute to the wider community.

Addressing the community, Ambassador Cesar reminded Rwandans living abroad that distance does not diminish their identity. He encouraged everyone, particularly young people, to learn, preserve, and proudly pass on Rwandan culture and traditions to future generations.

The celebration served as a reminder that every achievement is built through hard work, patience, and collective effort. As Ambassador Cesar noted, the first harvest was traditionally shared, bringing families, neighbours, and communities together, a spirit of unity that continues to define Rwanda today.
