General Information for all applications
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda (MINAFFET), in partnership with Irembo, introduced from June 5, 2024 a digitalized process of legalization of public documents through Apostilles electronic (e-Apostilles).
Rwandan documents intended for use abroad will be processed digitally and be accessible via the online platform Irembo https://irembo.gov.rw. Documents apostilled abroad will be directly usable in Rwanda.
Birth Certificate
This service allows Rwandans to apply online for a Birth Certificate to be used abroad. Please click on the following link

Birth Registration
For the birth registration of your child in Rwanda please submit your application and related documents via email: diasporaservices@nida.gov.rw and cc. the following Embassy email: ca-ambaberlin@minaffet.gov.rw
Requirements:
Certificate of Full Identity
This service allows Rwandans to apply for Certificate of Full Identity. It can serve as one of the supporting documents for the application of services such as to register for primary and secondary school national exams; military registration/recruitment, visa application, etc.
Criminal Record
This service allows Rwandans and foreigners living/who have lived in Rwanda to apply for a Criminal Record Certificate. This certificate has a validity of 6 months.
Certificate of Being Alive
This certificate issued to certify that the person is alive.
Death Certificate
To register the death of a person in Rwanda kindly submit the application via https://irembo.gov.rw/home/citizen/all_services
Please note that translated original death certificate which is pre-legalized by the Federal Administration Office (BfAA - Bundesamt für Auswärtige Angelegenheiten) is required.
